Readers are very concerned about the misuse of their personal information. The worst thing that the business can do is to sell the names of those who have opted in to other mailing lists, or worse yet, to indulge in spam. This is not the way to get what you want from your readers.
Test, Test, Test

Don’t suggest anything that you cannot follow through on, but do make good on what you offer. This builds a relationship of trust that can benefit you and your readers for years to come.
